THE INDUSTRY PRESENTS ITS PORTFOLIO

With its high-tech solutions, the military aerospace industry helps ensure that armed forces are equipped in the best possible way to fulfill their mission. Cross-platform networking, the use of artificial intelligence and the interaction of manned and unmanned systems are the megatrends in military aviation.

COOPERATION: MILITARY SUPPORT CENTER (MSC)

The Military Support Center MSC focuses on the cooperation between the Bundeswehr and the supporting industry. Company employees and members of the armed forces present side by side how this cooperation works. At the same time, the MSC provides insights into the extensive service portfolio of the military aviation industry − from large system houses to specialized medium-sized companies. Limited financial resources and demographic developments require continuous development and adaptation of this cooperation − at the MSC, industry and the Bundeswehr will present their approaches to the cooperation models of the future. In 2022, for the first time, the MSC will also place a special focus on the topic of ecological and social sustainability.

DIALOGUE AND INNOVATION

Military aviation faces numerous challenges and opportunities − changing security and defense policy frameworks, the role of air forces and new technologies require the continuous evolution of concepts, capabilities and products.

FUTURE COMBAT AIR SYSTEM (FCAS)

At ILA 2018, the CEOs of Airbus Defence & Space and Dassault Aviation signed the memorandum of understanding on the joint construction of a new European air combat system. Meanwhile, Spain has also joined the industry's technological beacon project. It includes a next-generation fighter aircraft as well as unmanned systems and an Air Combat Cloud that will enable a revolutionary level of connectivity between the components of the FCAS.

ILA FORUM AIR

At the ILA, high-ranking military officers, top politicians from the defence and security sectors as well as experts from the defence industry and science exchange views. The Forum Air provides a platform for this dialogue. A comprehensive programme of lectures and events gives trade visitors and the general public a unique opportunity to talk directly to politicians, the military and industry.

Defence budgets on the rise

Defence expenditures are now on the rise after a decades-long decline. In Germany, the budget is increasing at an above-average rate compared to the government’s overall federal budget.
