The company

PFW Aerospace GmbH is an experienced company for over 100 years with its headquarters in Speyer (Germany) and further sites in Izmir (Turkey) and Nuneaton (UK). PFW employs in total about 2,000 people and is the biggest manufacturer in aerospace in Rheinland-Pfalz.

The product portfolio has a scope of structural components, e.g. the A320 Belly Fairing, the A400M APU Compartment or Additional Center Tanks for enlarging flight distances. Other than that PFW mainly produces complex tubes and ducts consisting of various different materials. This ranges from aluminum- over titanium alloys to thermoplastic composites. Whether fuel, hydraulic fluid, water, oxygen or bleed air – for each medium that is transported in an airplane PFW provides the appropriate tube system.

Two partners and their strengths

Since January 2020 PFW can call itself a part of the Hutchinson family.

Hutchinson with its headquarters in Paris is a global leader among others in vibration control, fluid management and sealing systems technologies. Due to its broad expertise the Hutchinson-Group is capable of being active on multiple different markets creating synergies and added-value.

 

The enlarged Hutchinson family is represented in the industries of fluid and energy management. Whereas the core competence in Speyer mainly bases on metallic parts the remaining Hutchinson-Groups stands out with composites, plastic materials and everything consisting of rubber. 

Combined the possibility arises to offer hybrid products out of metallic and non-metallic materials. In terms of ecological as well as economical aspects is this a step into the future.

 

 

Together being strong in the future

In the course of the new alliance both partners have multiple new possibilities. On the one hand Hutchinson’s range of experience can be strengthened and extended in the areas of fluid management and structural parts in aerospace. On the other hand PFW gets the chance to improve its own capabilities and products with the partner’s industry-, material- and manufacturing competencies.

With this combined know how of both parties new possibilities are resulting, especially in the area of composite, to face the future challenges.
