ILA Goes Digital

As ILA Goes Digital is about to enter its second phase the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) and Messe Berlin GmbH have both given a positive assessment. Following the cancellation of ILA Berlin, originally due to be held from 13 to 17 May, the launch took place of ILA Goes Digital, the world’s first digital aerospace trade fair.

The digital ILA will provide direct and easy access to the fascinating world of aviation and space flight up until 31 July. The topics and formats are wide-ranging,

as is the involvement of some 100 exhibitors. One of the key topics at ILA Goes Digital is the future of flying. A selection of digital presentations, webinars, tours as well as videos lets visitors experience the future of flying right now. Exhibitors are also displaying VR applications, innovative urban mobility concepts and groundbreaking developments, including quantum technology applications in the aerospace industry.

<NEW> SESAR Joint Undertaking: Podcast "How will digital transformation build resilience in ATM?"

Airports, air navigation service providers and airlines, not to mention the air and ground manufacturers, have all been hit incredibly hard by the coronavirus pandemic. As air travel tentatively resumes, the industry is understandably focusing on the here and now, adapting their operations to provide the safest and healthiest passenger experience possible.

At the same time, many in the business are calling for an acceleration in the digital transformation of aviation, especially its air traffic management (ATM) system, as a matter of urgency. Indeed the move to digitalised infrastructure is seen as critical for making aviation more scalable, economically sustainable, environmentally efficient, predictable and resilient in the long run.

Now is the time to think about the future, to re-set the aviation industry, making it stronger, more resilient, more sustainable.  The SESAR Joint Undertaking is organising a series of vodcasts under the tagline: ‘COVID-19: A game changer for aviation?’ to engage the aviation community in a joint exploration of what needs to be done, and in particular how technology can bring about fundamental changes to the way we manage air traffic.

Broadcast live via Livestorm, the vodcasts will feature interview and discussions between some of the industry thought leaders.

The third vodcast How will digital transformation build resilience in ATM? will feature:

  • Klaus Meier, Chief Technology Officer, Skyguide
  • Ramon Tarrech, ATM Strategy Development Director, Indra
  • Marc Baumgartner, SESAR Coordinator, IFATCA
  • Florian Guillermet, Executive Director, SESAR JU

and moderated by Andrew Charlton, Executive Director, ATM Policy Institute

<NEW> SESAR Joint Undertaking: Online event "Artificial Intelligence in ATM - Part 1"

The rise of new Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning technologies provides an opportunity for a fundamental change in the automation landscape. Algorithms based on data-derived knowledge can result in increased ATM performance, safety and resilience but this also comes at the cost of reduced transparency. This webinar will look at some of the existing theory around AI/machine learning in ATM and will explain how we are moving towards higher levels of automation in a safety critical environment.

Es geht vielmehr um das, was hinter den objektiv sichtbaren Maßnahmen steht.

Mike Körner, Managing Partner, Actrans GmbH

Dear Customers, Partners and Suppliers,
we’d like to welcome you at our company presentation during the 1st digital ILA ever! Naturally we had preferred to meet all of you personally at our booth in Hall 2 at the Berlin Expo Center at Schoenefeld Airport, but due to the Corona situation we have to find new ways of getting together. We are very grateful to the organizers, the BDLI – German Aerospace Industries Association – and the Messe Berlin GmbH to have established this digital ILA, thus offering an adequate platform for the aviation industry to present their capabilities, meet and exchange about actual trends and developments, but before all to discuss ways how to overcome the current crisis, which is hitting the complete aviation world in an unprecedented manner.
So AKG invites you to visit our presence at “ILA goes digital” and to contact us via this website, by phone or e-mail.
We look forward to “meeting” you online in the coming weeks. We wish you an interesting experience with this digital ILA.
Best regards, stay safe and healthy!

Christoph Regel, Head of Aviation, AKG Thermotechnik GmbH & Co. KG
